sampler samples

So I started with a 40 stitch garter sample ’square’ that didn’t end up square. Oops. I cast that off and started another sample. In hindsight that was silly. I should have kept going, making a strip. The second one was #173 in the New Idea Encylopaedia of Stitches. Not sure if it has a name.

R1 – k1, *yfwd, k2tog* rpt to last st, k last st.

R2 – Purl

R 3 – k2, *yfwd, k2tog* rpt to last 2 st, k last sts.

R 4 – Purl

If I had to do that one again, I’d make it 41 and increase the first  row to K2, and 3rd to K3 (leaving the rest as is) to make a nicer edge.

Third sample is #8, a K2 P2 rib. But this time I didn’t cast off the other sample and just did two rows of knit. I did think about doing that in a different color.

Lovely, looks like I didn’t do the 2nd one right anyway. R3 should be k2 *yfwd, k2tog; rpt from * to end.

oh well :P

Not sure whether I will sew the garter bit on, or not. Might just knit another bit in.
