nifty ‘winter’ skirt idea
I was just checking my sisters Flickr page and found this skirt.
And I asked if the skirt I can see hanging out the bottom was attached. I don’t think it is, but how cool would it be if it was? I’d love a skirt like that, but more than that, I’d love a ’summer’ skirt with a warm cozy flannel (?) underskirt! Maybe not flannel, not sure. Possibly double knit jersey? Something warm, and drapey, but not too heavy, you know? Nickle is the seamsress of the family, she’d presumably have a better idea of fabrics than I would.
There’s even a stretch knit doona cover in a cool shade, puce? at the op shop.

I’ve been thinking of a layered skirt for YEARS – in the style of our lovely indigenous women here – “sarong” kinda skirts, one over the other, on loud, non-matching patterns
Your wintery idea is something ELSE I’ve been thinking of – but using fleece under, Skirts and pants. Just…well, not enough time! Says I, sitting on my bum in front of the computer! lol
Not sure fleece would work – it doesn’t in my head anyway. But you know, I was also thinking that a removable underskirt would also be wicked. Buttons come to mind (as attachment tools), but so do press studs and hooks and eyes. Ok, fiddly to implement. Maybe I need to go get that doona cover and experiment
